Contemporary Southwest is a custom, contract furniture designer and manufacturer that manufactures to customer order.
Our furniture is manufactured of kiln-dried sugar pine which is the highest grade of pine, and also the most stable. Sugar pine comes from the Pacific Northwest coast. The furniture is individually hand carved and handcrafted by skilled artisans who take great pride in their work. It is mortise and tenon construction with french dovetail drawers which glide like silk. Each drawer is hand fit to each piece of furniture and each drawer front is hand fit. Doors are hand fit to the opening.
Our finishes are a state of the art commercial system which completely seals the furniture and makes it impervious to moisture as well as making it very easy to care for. We offer 8 different standard finishes ranging from natural to whitewash to very dark, and accent colors in carving details can be any colors of choice. While it is not our forte, any of our collections can be ordered in a “distressed” option which will provide a more rustic appearance while still maintaining the same high level of construction and finish.
We can proudly say that our furniture is some of the highest quality southwestern furniture to be found anywhere, and consequently a very large percentage of our customers come back for more year after year.
While other companies may consider themselves to be a custom furniture manufacturer, only giving you two or three options to choose from, we can design and produce one of a kind pieces to suit your style, size requirements, finish and colors, and to meet the desired function for which the pieces are being designed. This is truly furniture designed and manufactured for you for your lifetime.
October, 2013 is the start of Contemporary Southwest’s 25th year in business. We are members of the Better Business Bureau, and are happy to provide references upon request. Besides our standard designs (featured on our website), we also custom design as well.
Contemporary Southwest offers a fresh and unique design element complimenting both traditional and contemporary settings. An emphatic commitment to premium design with the generous use of solid wood, gracefully proportioned, captures the old world technique of mortice and tenon construction.
The furniture finishes provide important benefits. Contemporary Southwest uses only the latest state-of-art chemical coating to enhance the natural beauty of the wood while providing a durable and stabilizing finish.
Blending design technique and man’s technology recalls the festive and romantic mood of the craftsman and his self-imposed furniture.
Contemporary Southwest produces orders in the sequence in which deposits are received. Current lead time is 10-12 weeks from the time that an average order is placed. Very large, or intricate and extremely custom orders will take longer depending upon the details of the order.
Our hours are Monday-Friday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am to 2:00 p.m. We are happy to set up appointments for customers who prefer to place their orders on site and are recommended for customers coming in from out of town.
We really appreciate your interest in our furniture. We look forward to creating custom, designed furniture for you.
